We take our electoral duties very seriously and seek to ensure that everyone who is entitled to vote, is able to do so.  We share the frustration of the students who have been unable to register, but we have to be clear that this situation has not arisen because of a clerical error on the Council's part. 

Therefore, we cannot add the students to the register at this stage. Around 1,000 invalid addresses were submitted and we did manage to contact and register 800 people. Around 200 people were not registered because we did not have the relevant information and were unable to make contact with the elector within the required timeframe. 

There have been incorrect reports on social media that we are able to register people affected by the above by 10pm tonight. Unfortunately this is not the case.
