Library and hubs users across Cardiff are being encouraged to try a new activity or hobby this New Year to boost their health and wellbeing.
On Monday, January 20th , libraries and hubs across the city will be offering customers and members of the public the chance to take part in a new activity that they may never have tried before.
‘Do Something Different Day' is the final instalment of Welsh Libraries' Living Well in Wales campaign that brings together public libraries and partner organisations to highlight the important role libraries play at the heart of their local communities and to promote the thousands of events and activities promoting health and wellbeing held in libraries each year.
The campaign began in May 2019 with Dementia Action Week, in partnership with Alzheimer's Society, before supporting Blood Pressure UK's ‘Know Your Numbers! Week in September and the British Dyslexia Association's National Dyslexia Week in October.
Welsh Libraries are working with Time to Change Wales, Hafal and MIND Cymru on Do Something Different Day, to inspire people to try something new to improve their physical and mental wellbeing at the start of this New Year.
A Time to Change Wales champion will be visiting St Mellons Hub on January 20 (9.30am - 12pm) to provide information on the campaign to end the stigma faced by people with mental health problem, while a wide range of free events will be taking place across Cardiff hubs and libraries including:

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said: "The start of 2020 is the perfect time to try something new and our fantastic hubs and libraries are offering people the chance to do just that on Do Something Different Day.
"I'm glad that we're able to offer such a wide range of activities across the city to give people a taster of the sort of events, classes and groups on in our facilities regularly throughout the year. Do Something Different Day is a great opportunity to highlight the positive impact our library and hub services can have on people's mood and wellbeing.
"We're pleased to be supporting thisWelsh Libraries initiative, promotingsocial wellbeing and active lifestyles, and encourage our customers to give something new a go on Monday."
