Bereavement Services Team make finals of Association for Public Service Excellence awards
The multi-award winning Bereavement Services team at Cardiff Council have made it through to the finals of the Association for Public Service Excellence Awards 2020, in the ‘Best Service Team: Cemetery and Crematorium Service’ category.

2020 has already seen Thornhill Cemetery named as ‘Cemetery of the Year,’ winning the accolade for the second year running.

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Bereavement Services, Cllr Michael Michael, said: “To make it to the finals of these awards, having already been named Cemetery of the Year, and in the face of the significant challenges posed by Covid-19, is great recognition for the team and testament to the fantastic job they do working for Cardiff. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for good news when the awards are announced next week.”

Cardiff’s Bereavement Services Team deal with over 4,500 funerals every year. The service is recognised as a gold rated service in the UK standard ICCM Charter for the Bereaved Assessment and has a customer satisfaction rate of 99%.
