 20/04/21

The UK Community Renewal Fund opened yesterday - with £220m of funding from the UK Government available for organisations across the UK to apply for. The new funding intends to support communities by tackling challenges, building skills and creating opportunities that contribute towards the local economy.

Cardiff Council will be the lead organisation in Cardiff that will submit the agreed projects through to the UK Government for consideration. The fund is open to a range of applicants, including community councils, the voluntary and community sector, schools and universities and local businesses.

The successful bids will:

Build on local insight and knowledge

Align with long-term strategic plans for local growth

      Target people most in need

      Support community renewal

Compliment other national and local service provision

The investment priorities of this scheme are:

      Investment in skills

      Investment in local businesses

      Investment in communities and places

      Supporting people into employment.

90% of the fund is revenue funded, so projects that focus on construction or refurbishment of buildings, the purchase of land, or the purchase of large pieces of equipment will not be supported.
