Scheduled green waste collections will then resume from March 15th2022 - but there will be specific collections provided for real Christmas trees in January. More details will follow on this service In December so follow our social media accounts for information or download the CardiffGov app to your phone from the Apple Store or Google Play. 50,000 residents are already using the app to access council services.

With the exception of bank holidays, the recycling centres at Bessemer Close and Lamby Way will remain open during the winter, so recycling and garden waste can also be brought to these facilities -Garden waste collections (cardiff.gov.uk)

Cllr Michael Michael, Cabinet Member for Clean Streets and the Environment said: "The HGV driver shortage and the rising COVID infection rates in the city mean we have to prioritise services as we gear up to face the extra pressures that winter brings ever year. The amount of green waste collected in the city reduces by nearly 50% between November and December and we know this is replicated in January, February and March. Given these figures, the council has tailored the green waste collections to maximise the efficiency of waste collections and make best use of the staff that we have available during these difficult times.

"Christmas is always a very busy period for our waste collections crews collecting cardboard, recycling, and general waste - as residents produce significantly more of these types of waste over the festive period. Crews that usually collect garden waste will be moved to help their colleagues on other waste collection rounds to ensure the statutory waste services can be collected."
