As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety and well-being Cardiff Council has launched a new campaign which promotes safe learning environments for everyone who attends them.

Its key focus reminds school communities that pupils and school staff have a right to attend their education setting, free from abuse and any form of aggression and that this behaviour will not be tolerated. keeping schools safe is a collaborate effort between pupils, parents, schools and their communities.

Cardiff's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Sarah Merry said: "We want to send the message that Cardiff is committed to promoting safe and positive learning environments for all pupils and the staff around them.

"Every child deserves to learn in an environment that is free from fear and violence and schools should be safe places for pupils where they can learn, develop and thrive. It is essential for academic success, mental health, positive relationships, inclusivity, and preparing students for the future. We also want to reiterate that schools provide a vital service and any form of written, verbal of physical abuse towards staff will not be tolerated - we want to send a very clear message to our school staff that we support them.

It is essential that our school communities work together to ensure that our schools are safe places and by fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and non-violence, we empower students to focus on their education and personal growth and allow staff to educate efficiently."
