Rent
Smart Wales partners with Natural Resources Wales to deliver vital flood
management course
Rent Smart Wales has launched new Flood Management training for landlords and agents, developed in collaboration with Natural Resources Wales.
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course is free and now available to access on the Rent Smart Wales website.
With 1 in 7 homes and businesses in Wales at risk of flooding, and with the climate emergency bringing more extreme weather, it is more important than ever that people know and understand their flood risk.
Refurbishment
of Cardiff Dogs Home underway after £500,000 fundraising effort
Refurbishment works have officially begun at Cardiff Dogs Home, marking a major step forward in improving facilities for lost and abandoned dogs in Cardiff.
The refurbishment is being made possible thanks to the extraordinary fundraising efforts of The Rescue Hotel, a registered charity established in 2020 to support Cardiff Dogs Home.
Launched by former Welsh rugby captain and Rescue Hotel ambassador Sam Warburton, their fundraising campaign raised over £500,000 to upgrade the kennels. This includes a generous £180,000 donation from the Pets Foundation.
Cardiff
Council commits to becoming Endometriosis Friendly Employer
Cardiff Council is the latest organisation pledging to support colleagues impacted by endometriosis, by joining the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme.
With 14,800 staff, it becomes the largest local government body to make this commitment and is only the second in Wales to do so, following Powys County Council.
Through the scheme, which is run by charity Endometriosis UK, Cardiff Council will improve its support for those affected by this common disease, as well as breaking down taboos and stigmas around menstrual health.
Ysgol
Glan Morfa celebrates commendable Estyn report
During a recent inspection by Estyn, Ysgol Glan Morfa in Splott has been praised for its strong values, inclusive ethos and commitment to pupil wellbeing and progress.
Inspectors highlighted the high standards set
by school leaders, as well as a clear, comprehensive vision that places pupils'
progress and wellbeing at its heart. The report commended the school's strong
partnerships with parents, governors, and the wider community, which help provide
engaging and meaningful learning opportunities.
Particular praise was given to the school's
work in developing pupils' personal, social and moral understanding, and its
commitment to celebrating and respecting cultural diversity.
The report also acknowledges Ysgol Glan Morfa's
strong promotion of the Welsh language and its central role in daily school
life. The school is proud to nurture confident Welsh speakers who contribute to
the language's continued growth and importance within the local community.
